Lithuania

The name of my country is Lithuania and the nationality of its inhabitants is the Lithuanian, there the language spoken is Lithuanian. The population is 3.500.000 inhabitants and the total area is 65 000 km². The capital city is Vilnius, it is a beautiful city on the banks of the rivers Neris and Vilnia.

Lithuania is the southernmost of the three Baltic states and the largest and most populous of them. Situated along the southeastern shore of the Baltic Sea. It shares borders with Latvia to the north, Belarus to the southeast and Poland and Russia to the southwest.

The political system is the republic, Lithuania was the first occupied Soviet republic to break free from the Soviet Union and restore its sovereignty via the declaration of independence on 11 March 1990. It has been a member of the European union since 2004, but the currency isn’t the Euro, it’s the Lita.

Charles Bronson, a famous actor, was born in USA, but he grew up in Lithuania.

Lithuania’s most famous culinary export is perhaps cold beet soup. Potatoes also make a regular appearance on menus, popular dishes being potato pancakes and Cepelinai (potato dumplings stuffed with meat, curd cheese or mushrooms).

I would not mind living in Lithuania because it’s a very beautiful place, there are incredible landscapes: Lithuania has 758 rivers, more than 2 800 lakes and 99 km of the Baltic Sea coastline and the forests cover just over 30% of the country.
