“School gates should not be locked during the day” Discuss.

Many people, especially teenagers, think that school gates should not be locked during the day. There are arguments both for and against it.

Knocking on heaven's door
On the one hand, teenagers think that the gates of the school should not be closed during break time because they want to leave the classes for a moment. They spend around 7 hours locked up in the building and  most of this time with people they hate. If  teenagers can leave the school they can make photocopies when they need to and they can go to have things for breakfast that  they can not find  at the school cafeteria.

On the other hand, the gates should be closed because the schools is responsible for the students. If they leave the school during break time and they have an accident, their parents would blame the school. If they can leave the school they would start to skip classes and this is not good for their studies. Besides, some young students are very irresponsible, they are only 12 years old when they start the secondary school.

To sum up, I think that the school gates should be opened during break time (and all time) only for the bachillerato students because they are responsible  enough to care about themselves.
