English and Afrikaans are the most used. Other languages are Ndebele, Sesotho, Sotho
Septentrional, Tswana, Swazi,Tsonga, Venda, Xhosa and Zulu.

South African´s political system is Republic of South Africa where the Government of South
Africa act under a parliamentary system, inspired by the British of Westminster. The
President of South Africa is the head of State and head of Government. It is selected by the

provinces, the President is the leader of the majority party in the National Assembly, which
has 400 members elected through an electoral system. The National Council of provinces

is surrounded by the Atlantic and Indian oceans.

The currency is the South African Rand(1 EUR = 11,05

ZAR)

The total area of South Africa is about  1.219.080 km².
South Africa has got three capitals, they are Pretoria, where we find the headquarters of
the executive power ;Bloemfontein where we find the headquarters of the  judiciary power
and Cape Town, where we find the headquarters of the legislative power.

An important historical fact is the Second Boer War where British fought with
Boers for the gold and diamonds of South Africa. Another historical fact important is when this
country finally achieved independence in 1961.

Some famous people of South Africa are:
Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was a famous politician and he was awarded the "Nobel Peace Prize" in 1993

Samuel Eto'o Fils is a famous footballer that received the "African Golden Ball"

Sasha Pieterse is an actress that now you can see in "Pretty Little Liars"

Koeksister is a typical dish of South Africa; it  is a sweet syrup coated South Africa and has a dough very similar to a doughnut in shaped like a braid.
South Africa isn't a member of the European Union.
South Africa is a beautiful country to live as you can see, but I think that I wouldn't  live there because I don´t like the food of South Africa very much.

South Africa

South Africa is a multi-ethnic nation. Its habitants are South Africans. There are a total of eleven languages that have been recognised in their constitution,  the most important is Afrikaans, but English is spoken too.
South Africa is a parliamentary republic where live about 51 million people. We can find an incredible diversity of cultures, these are the percentages:
 79.2% Black African
8.9% Coloured
8.9% White
2.5% Indian / Asian
0.5% other
It lies in the south of Africa, neighbouring with Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe to the north  and to the east with Mozambique and Swaziland; this situation gives  this country a biodiversity recognised in all of world, although it is in a very dangerous situation. Its total area is 1,221,037 km2 much of it is a protected area. Due to its diversity we can find vineyards that are producing more and more wine.
Its currency is the rand. It has got three capital cities, each of them dedicated to a specific field:  Pretoria (executive), Bloemfontein (judicial), Cape Town (legislative); but the largest city is Johannesburg.
Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika which means “Good bless Africa” is its wonderful anthem composed in 1897 by Enoch Sontonga:

Nelson Mandela and the apartheid:
After creating the policy of racial segregation (apartheid), Mandela becomes important within the African National Congress, especially in 1952, and the People's Congress of 1955, in which the adoption of "Freedom Charter" provides the main program in the anti-apartheid cause.
He served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999, the first to be elected in a fully representative, multiracial election. Mandela is, probably, the most famous person and the most loved in South Africa.

Finally I really would love to live in South Africa because of their natural reserves and this optimistic sense that  have in common all African cultures.

SOUTH AFRICA by Guillermo

My country is South Africa so I am South African. In my country we have eleven official languages: Afrikaans, English, Ndebele, Northern, Sotho, Swazi, Tswana, Tsonga. The official name of my country is Republic of South Africa. South Africa is a parliamentary republic, the Presidents is the head of government, and nowadays he is Jacob Zuma. The population of South Africa is about 50.000.000 people.
South Africa is a country located at the southern tip of
Africa. To the north of the country lie the neighbouring territories of Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe; to the east are Mozambique and Swaziland; while Lesotho is an enclave surrounded by South African territory.

The currency is the rand.

South Africa’s capitals are Pretoria, executive capital, Bloemfontein, judicial capital, and Cape Town, legislative capital. However Johannesburg is the largest city in South Africa.

In South Africa the most important historic fact is the apartheid, it was a system of racial segregation enforced by the National Party governments of South Africa between 1948 and 1994. In this time, the most important person of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, fought against the government defending people who have black skin.

Nelson Mandela.
Another important fact in South Africans was the FOOTBALL WORLD CUP that was played there in 2010 ans was won by SPAIN!!!
Obviously, my country is not a member of the European Union.
And I don't know if I would like to live in South Africa. If I were a rich and white man, I would like to live in this country because you can live comfortably and you can enjoy a lot of pleasures, but if I were a poor and black person, I would not like to live in this country, as they have such serious problems and it is a way of life that I do not wish for anybody.
