Now, it is your turn to find a song and a film connected with all the things we have been talking about in UNIT3
- Ambition / Motivation - Do you remember the story I told you about the man who was sitting in Plaza San Nicolas enjoying the view of the Alhambra and another man offered him a lottery ticket? - Your plans for the future - What will you be when you grow up? - Where will you live? What job will you have??
- What would you do if you met your teacher at the disco?
- What would you have done if you had won the lottery last December?
A cruise?
A holiday? A sports car?
More questions to come ...... Please, leave your ideas here. Use what you have learnt in this unit and your IMAGINATION!!!!
But I like many other songs about Christmas. Here you can see a photo of the Christmas concert that our school choir (Coral Padre Manjón) gave in San Jeronimo Church in Granada to commemorate their 25 years as a choir. And here you can listen to one their songs in that concert. Holy Night I like how they sing and I enjoy their concerts a lot. The song you can hear in this link is a favourite of mine!!
What about you? Please, leave a comment here and say something about your favourite song and film about Christmas. I'll tell you about my special Christmas film soon!!
Christopher Nolan is one of my favourite filmmakers. I like him because not only does he direct films, but he is also a writer. He has written many brilliant films like : The Prestige and Inception.( my other favorite movie)
I could talk about the two, but I think that The Prestige is less known than Inception and I think that it is worth that people see it.
So I want to talk about this class of film that after seeing them, you will realize that everything fits and everything makes sense. I want to talk about The prestige.
There are many famous actors in this film. The main ones are: Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale and Scarlett Johansson.
The movie is about two young magicians who begin working in London in the late nineteenth century. One of them is Robert Angier (Hugh Jackman), determined and sophisticated. And the other is Alfred Borden (Christian Bale), who is a real magician with skills but he is not able to prove it in front of the public. The two friends work together but after a catastrophic accident, which killed Angier´s wife, their relationship turns into enmity and hatred.
I love this film because you have to be attentive to all details, and you have to concentrate because the film jumps in time and you could lose the thread of history.
So I hope that when you see this film you will enjoy as much or more than I did
Chicago was made in USA in 2002 by Rob Marshall. It is a musical film that tells a story taking place in Chicago, where Velma Kelly (Catherine Zeta-Jones) is a cabaret artist and one night she begins her show and Roxie Hart (Renée Zellweger) who wants to be famous, is in the public. Roxie wants to became as Velma Kelly but this will cause them to fall from the top and to go to prison due to different charges for murders. There she meets with the legendary lawyer Billy Flynn (Richard Gere) who will take the Roxie's case. Roxie's career shines but Kelly will do something to change it.
This film is based on the book ''Tre metri sopra il cielo'' which write by Federico Moccia. First I read the book and then I saw the film, but the Italian film because it's very beutiful and the film follows the script of the book. I don't like the Spanish film because the actors are very bad and it's a cheap copy of the Italian film. I like ''Tre metri sopra il cielo'' because I like romantic stories and at the same time it's a real story. The actors are very good and the music is very nice.
SOME INFORMATION:
Director: Luca Lucini Producer: Marco Chimenz Screenplay by: Federico Moccia ( novel ) Teresa Ciabatti and Federico Moccia ( screenplay ) Starring: Riccardo Scamarcio ( Step ) Katy Louise Saunders ( Baby ) Maria Chiara Augenti ( Pallina ) Ivan Bacchi ( Paolo ) Mauro Meconi ( Pollo ) Giulia Gorietti ( Daniela ) Music by: Francesco De Luca and Alessandro Forti Release date: 2004 Story: In Rome, as in any other city in the world, young people want to fly, looking for walking ''three metres about the sky''. Girls like Baby strive in school, talk about the latest in fashion and prepare to find the love of their lives, the boys as Step prefer the speed, violence, risk, motorcycles and camaraderie of the bands but all of them are involved in life as if each second were the last.
They belong to different worlds, they want different things but they have something in common: the love that will float and hold them, love them will find and change: they'll become more savage;they'll become more soft. While, down there, the real life is demanding.
The Godfather is about the Mafia and it's my favourite movie because it is realist, original and complex. I think the actors are really gifted, the screenplay is brilliant and the music is sublime.

In chapter 13 of the book TEACHER MAN Mr McCourt takes his students to the movies. This is rather stressful because the students are really excited about this and they don't pay much attention to what he says. For some of the boys and girls it is their first time at a movie theater and they find the experience fascinating.
Today, in our English lesson I have also taken you to the cinema. We have seen some minutes of four different films: - West Side Story -1961 - A rebel without a Cause -1955- Grease - 1978 - Dead Poets' Society - 1989 These four films have something in common: The all deal with young people or teenagers who have more or less serious problems with other people of the same age, friends, parents, teachers .... Have a look at the information provided here and try to see at least one of the films in this list. Write a short text about the film you choose and say why you think other people should/shouldn't see it.
