This is dedicated to Felipe

I am dedicating this post to Felipe because he is a very good student and because when he finished writing his essay for the exam, he told me -'Teacher, I am sure you will like my essay very much.'
And he was right, I do like it a lot.
And I would like to share it with you.

When you learn a language, you learn more than just a way to communicate

In these years learning a language has become a common thing. You learn it because you need it in your job, or to travel somewhere in the world ...

On the one hand, once you have learned a language you know many more things apart from just the language. While you are studying a language you are learning the culture, the typical food, the important places and monuments from the place where the language comes from. You learn it in reading exercises, in listening exercises, in vocabulary exercises....

On the other hand, nowadays we live in a world full of ‘stress’ and where everybody wants to do a lot of things in a little time. We are losing the tradition of learning a language correctly – that is to say, learning the culture, monuments, typical food, etc. - There are a lot of methods of learning a language that make you sure that you can speak a language with 1000 words or things like that, to make you believe that you will not have to spend much time learning the language.

To sum up, when we learn a language, we learn more than just a way to communicate, but just if we learn it correctly not in a fast way. To learn more than just the language you need TIME (years!)

The offspring - You're gonna go far kid

The Offspring are Dexter Holland (vocals, guitar), Noodles (guitar), Greg K (bass) and Pete Parada (drums).
Following a riot at a 1984 Social Distortion show, high school buddies Dexter and Greg K decided to start a band of their own in Garden Grove, California. The Offspring have now put out 8 records, performed over 1000 shows across the globe and are known for their many hits including "Self Esteem," "Come Out And Play (Keep 'Em Separated)," "The Kids Aren't Alright," "Hammerhead" and "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid."

LYRICS

Now dance, fucker, dance
Man, he never had a chance
And no one even knew
It was really only you

And now you steal away
Take him out today
Nice work you did
You’re gonna go far, kid

(Chorus)
With a thousand lies
And a good disguise
Hit ‘em right between the eyes
Hit ‘em right between the eyes
When you walk away
Nothing more to say
See the lightning in your eyes
See ‘em running for their lives

Why this song?
Because I think the whole lyrics are great and original. Also because every time I listen to it I encourage myself because it's got pace and it's an inspirational song. It isn't a sad song to cry or to be depressed; that is what I like the most of this song.

INTERVIEWING DERRICK ROSE

Hi, good afternoon! Yesterday we had the pleasure of interviewing the NBA basketball player, captain of the Chicago Bulls and maybe the MVP of this NBA season (due to his work in the basketball court)... Derrick Rose!

First of all, I’ve asked him how he felt after passing the first round of the NBA play-offs, beating ‘Indiana Pacers’. He answered me that he was satisfied with his team and also that the following matches they would play better.

After this, we started talking about his career as a professional basketball placer.

I asked him if he had enjoyed the high school. He answered me ‘Of course!’, he said that he had won two state championships with his high-school ‘Simeon Career Academy’ (never before one team had done that in Illinois(his home town))

Then, I asked him if he had been a good student at the university. He told me that he hadn’t been a wonderful student but neither a bad one. Also, he told me that he played in the ‘Tigers’ from the University of Memphis but there he hadn’t won anything.

After that, I asked him how his beginning at the NBA had been. He answered me that it had been an honour to be selected in the first position at the 2008 NBA Draft for the Chicago Bulls. Also he told me that in his first year at the NBA it had been amazing to play ‘The All-Star weekend’.

After this question, I asked him if he had received any award. He told me that he had received the award of ’NBA Rookie of the year’ due to he played very well in his first season at the NBA.

Then, I asked how it had been for him to be injured in his second season at the NBA. He answered me that it had been very hard to overcome that; however he said that it had made him stronger.

Finally, I asked him what his trick had been to become such a good basketball player. He looked at me and told me that YOU HAD TO TRAIN VERY HARD EVERYDAY TO BECOME A STAR

Finally, I thanked him for answering my questions!

LUXEMBOURG

LUXEMBOURG

People who live in Luxembourg are Luxembourgers and all speak Luxembourgian, a language similar to German. German is the first foreign language and French is in the second place.

Luxembourg is a Parliamentary Democracy headed by a constitutional Monarch. The Grand Duke has got complete political immunity. He forms his government by appointing ministers and secretaries of the state. Based on the election's results, he appoints the Prime Minister of the country.

The population of Luxembourg in 2010 was 502,202 people.

Luxembourg is a small landlocked country in Western Europe, surrounded by Belgium, France and Germany, and its history has been inextricably linked with these countries.

Its currency is the Euro (€).

It takes up an area of approximately 2,586 square kilometres. The country is full of forests and rolling hills.

The capital city is Luxembourg, although there are other important cities like Mersch, Esch-sur-Alzette and Dudelange.

The history of Luxembourg is entwined with the histories of surrounding countries, peoples, and ruling dynasties. Over time, the territory of Luxembourg ownership has changed repeatedly, and its political independence has grown gradually. The history of this country starts in 963, from here to twentieth century; Luxembourg has been governed by Spain, France, Austria, Netherlands and Germany. What’s more in 1839, the Treaty of London ceded the western part of Luxembourg to Belgium. So, Luxembourg became a smaller country. Since the Second World War, Luxembourg has become one of the world's richest countries.

Famous people who were born in Luxembourg: Joseph Kutter and Michael Majerus, painters and artists and the photographer Edward Steichen.

In Luxembourg there are many typical dishes like Thuringer (little sausages which are usually sold in the streets), Kach Keis (a soft cheese spread) and Quetsche tort (a plum tart)

Finally, I’d like to say that Luxembourg has been a member of the European Union since 1957.

I wouldn’t like to live in Luxembourg because I think it is a small country where there aren’t many people and where I couldn’t do many things.
