Now, it is your turn to find a song and a film connected with all the things we have been talking about in UNIT3
- Ambition / Motivation - Do you remember the story I told you about the man who was sitting in Plaza San Nicolas enjoying the view of the Alhambra and another man offered him a lottery ticket? - Your plans for the future
- What will you be when you grow up? - Where will you live? What job will you have??
- What would you have done if you had won the lottery last December?
More questions to come ......
Please, leave your ideas here. Use what you have learnt in this unit and your IMAGINATION!!!!
Last month I saw a fantastic fil, "The Pursuit of Happyness" Will smith stars this film with his son. Based on a true story about a man named Christopher Gardner. Gardner has invested heavily in a device known as a "Bone Density scanner" but they do not sell. His wife leaves him, he loses his house. Forced to live out in the streets with his son, Gardner he takes on a job as a stockbroker, but he needs to go through 6 months of training, and to sell his devices.
ReplyDeleteThanks, M del Mar.
DeleteI haven't seen the film, but I think it looks appropriate for this topic and it also sounds interesting!
I thin one song for the unit three about "The conditionals" is "If Were A Boy" of Beyonce is a great song and this song use many examples of conditionals
ReplyDeleteFilm about conditionals? ummmmm... I don't know anyone
I think Billy Elliot is a great film about ambition and motivation. The main character wants to be a dancer, and he tries in any way to make his dream come true.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Clara. Yes, I think you are right!
DeleteI'd like to be doctor in the future and to live in a big house in New York.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that I meet my teacher at the disco.
I suggest two songs one in spanish and the other in english. 'Working in the Highway' by Bruce Springsteen and 'Es una lata el trabajar' by Luis Aguile. My film is 'The Pursuit of Happyness'.
Ramiro, I think you are trying to pull my leg!

ReplyDeleteThis video, is part of a film called 'Fiddler on the Roof'. In the video a man sings a song : 'If I were a rich man' and he uses conditional sentences.
Yes, good choice!
DeleteI think the song called "I´do anything for love" is perfect for this unit because it has the grammar that we are studying and it is very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHere there is a part of the song:
"And I would do anything for love
I'd run right into hell and back
I would do anything for love
I'll never lie to you and that's a fact"

ReplyDeleteI think the film could be "Dead Poets Society", and the song "Tears In Heaven" by Eric Clapton , it has very beautiful lyrics and it uses the conditional a lot. Here you have a part of the song:
ReplyDeleteWould you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?
Very good ideas, Marina. Thanks a lot!
DeleteI think the song "Hero"by Mariah Carey could be a good song to motivate. Here a little part of this song:
ReplyDelete"And then a hero comes along
With the strength to carry on
And you cast your fears aside
And you know you can survive
So when you feel like hope is gone
Look inside you and be strong
And you'll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you"
The film "Men Of Honor" is a good example of motivation because the main character "Carl" dreams to belong to divers' school, and his father shows him the importance of effort and perseverance.
Also very good ideas, Jose Manuel. Thanks!!
DeleteI think that the song "If I Were A Rich Man" by Zero Mostel is a good song with conditional sentences. The film "Forrest Gump" is a good example of motivation and self-improvement.
ReplyDeleteI like a lot this song: "Firework" by Katy Perry. It is a beautiful and motivate song, but It does not use conditionals. Here there is a part of the song:
ReplyDelete"You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow."
And the films "The Pursuit of Happyness" or "Forrest Gump" are the best for me.
I think the perfect song is 'If I were a Rich Man' by Zero Mostel!
ReplyDeleteThere are many films which concern with this unit, 'Michael Clayton' directed by Tony Gilroy and starring George Clooney or 'The Constant Gardener' directed by Fernando Meirelles, starring Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz.

ReplyDeleteThe song 'If I Die Young' by The Band Perry used conditionals and it´s a nice song. Here, there is an example:
ReplyDelete'If I die young bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song'
I think the film 'The Shawshank Redemption' is a beautiful film about ambition and motivation.

ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, I really like the song "Son Of Man" by Phil Collins. This song appears in Disney's film Tarzan when little Tarzan tries to become an adult like the apes he lives with. Here you have some phrases of the song:
ReplyDelete"Though there's no one there to guide you
no one to take your hand
but with faith and understanding
you will journey from boy to man
Son of man, look to the sky
lift your spirit, set it free
some day you'll walk tall with pride
son of man, a man in time you'll be."
And if you want to listen to this song, go to this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNBF2pa1ZDE
And now the film. I think that a good film is "The King's Speech", the story of King George VI of Britain, a man who has a stummer. With the help of a therapist he is able to speak correctly.
I think the song 'If I had a hammer'is a perfect song for this unit because It uses the condicional sentences.
ReplyDelete'La Vida es Bella' is a beautiful film about the motivation. It's one of my favourites movies.
"Money" by Pink Floyd is an interesting song, which talks about the power of the money and how it can affect our personality. This verse reminds me of the banker of the fable we read.
ReplyDelete"Money, get away.
Get a good job with good pay
and you're okay."
One motivating film I have seen is "Any Given Sunday". It shows us an american football team which is in decadence and when a new coach joins the team, it overcomes its situation.
I think that the perfect song for this unit is "More Than Words " by Extreme because it's a beautiful song and It uses conditionals sentences.
ReplyDelete"But if you only knew
How easy it would be to show me how you feel
More than words is all you have to do to make it real"
And the film "Million Dollar Baby" is a good film about ambition
A song of ambition and motivation is 'Billionaire' by Travie Mccoy & Bruno Mars:
ReplyDelete'I wanna be a billionaire so fricking bad
buy all of the things I never had
uh, I wanna be on the cover of Forbes magazine
smiling next to Oprah and the Queen.'
I think a good film for this unit is 'I am Sam' starring by Sean Penn and Dakota Fanning. It's about a mentally retarded man who fights for custody of his 7-year-old daughter, and in the process teaches his cold-hearted lawyer the value of love and family.
Sorry for the delay. I sent this comments some days ago, but it didn't published.
ReplyDeleteI think one film for this unit is 'Modern Times' by charles chaplin, cause in this film he's woeker, poor and some differnts works.
And one song that uses the condicional is 'If You Don't Know Me By Now' by Simply Red.
I think I´ll be pope... just kidding, I want to be a flamenco guitarist, and an athlete
