ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF SCHOOL UNIFORMS

Many people have strong views about wearing uniform. Some of them think it is a great idea, however the others think the opposite.

On the one hand, wearing uniform is a comfortable idea. Even thought wearing uniform does not let you express your personality and feeling, it is a nice idea because you do not have to think about what you are going to wear. In addition it makes better the rules at school that they do not have to order how students should get dressed. Also, wearing uniforms at school helps children feel more identified with the school.

On the other hand, some uniforms are expensive and difficult to find it at the shops. Students cannot show their own style. Sometimes they make you feel hot in summer and cold in winter. Maybe they can be uncomfortable.

To sum up, I believe that uniforms should be optional for students in spite of they are convenient.

School uniforms

I have always worn uniform to school until this year but many people in my school disagreed with it.

On the one hand,  wearing  a uniform promotes the equality between boys and girls of different social conditions, because they are all equal in school. It is also  very convenient for children, because they do not have to think  what to wear every day; and for parents because they do not have to buy too many clothes for children to wear at school.

On the other hand, people who do not like uniforms think that everybody should be allowed to wear what they want, because they are free to do it. And specially teenagers think that uniform are not so ''cool'' to go to school, because they are very concerned about their appearance.

To sum up, I prefer wearing uniform instead of normal clothes, because it is more economical and very convenient than choosing clothes everyday. And I think it promotes the equality between children. So I am very sad because of not wearing uniform in this High School!

Advantages and disadvantages of school uniform

There are some arguments both for and against it

One the one hand, some schools have rules and it is compulsory to wear uniform. These rules are usually for small children who go to primary school, for example.

On the other hand, many pupils disagree with uniforms, for example teenagers, who are very worried about clothes, and sometimes they go against the rules and they wear clothes that are not appropriate at school.

To sum up, uniforms  are a good idea for small children but I think the students of high schools shouldn't have to wear uniforms because I think that we are responsible enough to be able to choose our clothes.

Advantages and disadvantages of school uniforms

In some schools it is required to wear uniform, but, do you agree with the uniforms?

On the one hand, school uniforms have got an important advantage: they are more convenient  when children have to choose their clothes, because choosing your clothes can delay you. Another advantage of school uniform is that buying a uniform is cheaper than buying  ten or more different clothes, so we can say that uniforms are more economical than normal clothes.

On the other hand, school uniform are less comfortable or less “cool” than normal clothes, and if you are conceited, this will be a problem for you.

To sump up, I think the only problem of school uniform is merely aesthetic.

Interview by Pablo Ortega

I have interviewed Iker Casillas.

I decided to interview Iker because I really appreciate his work as the goalkeeper in Real Madrid team   very much. Iker always wanted to be a goalkeeper when he was a child and now thanks to him we are Champions of the world and Europe.

I started my interview asking him if he did not feel lonely when he  is playing a football match. He told me that he did not feel lonely because he had the support of the people. Them I asked him if he thought that we were going to win the UEFA European Championship again. He told me that if they work hard and have a bit of luck, it will not be difficult.

Lionel Andrés Messi

The other day I was running in Garcia Lorca’s park, and I saw a man running behind me. I turned around and I saw that he was Leo Messi. At first I was a bit surprised but suddenly I remembered that I had to do an interview for an English project, so I decided to ask him some questions.

I started asking him if he really was Messi and he answered me that of course he was so I went to the next question. “So what are you doing here?” I asked, and he began telling me a story. He said that when he came here to Granada to play a football match, he fell in love with the city and the weather, so he sometimes came here for having a break.

Then I ventured to ask him some personal details. I asked him which goal of all of his is his favourite one. He was thinking for a while and then he answered me that it was the goal that he had scored against the Real Madrid in the Champions last year. He told me that he must go to the hotel and then to the airport because he had to train for the final of the Cup so he moved away after saying goodbye to me.

In the end I didn’t run much but that day I met my favourite football player.

Mixed schools versus single-sex schools

Through most part of the 20th century lots of school only offered education for one gender, but from the 80s this has changed. Is it an evidence of progress?

The advantages of single-sex schools are that the students are likely to be more focused on their studies, they usually get better marks and the teachers (who have to be of the same gender) can teach them easily a more personal education.

However, all these schools are private, and there are some problems that they cannot solve, but mixed, public schools can. For example, some students at university who have come from a single-sex school find it strange and even uncomfortable to share the classroom with the other sex. That is not a problem with mixed schools, where equality is an essential value. Otherwise, boys and girls don’t pay attention to each other until secondary school.

To sum up, I think that mixed schools are the best choice for education. Nevertheless, it is not a big problem that they go to a single-sex school until they are 12 or something like that, and then they should go to a mixed high school.
