In Albania people speak Albanian. It's a republic of the south-east of Europe. They are Albanians. They are 2.994.667 people in the country. Their borders are with Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo and Greece.
Their currency is the Lek. Their area is 28.748 km². The capital city and the most important city is Tirana.
Some important historic facts are:
· In 48 b.C. - 10 of July - the battle of Dirraquio. Pompeyo defeated to Cesar and killed him.
· In 1912 - 28 of November - The end of the Ottoman Empire. Albania became independent.
· In 1946 - 11 of January - The popular republic in Albania started.
Important people from Albania
Mother Teresa of Calcutta (26 August 1910 – 5 September 1997). Her name was Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu. She was an ethnic Albanian, Indian Roman Catholic nun. Mother Teresa founded the Missionaries of Charity in 1950. For more than 45 years she served to poor, sick, orphaned and dying. She was the recipient of numerous honours including the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize.
The typical food of Albania is a mixture of many others cultures. The most popular drink it's the raki.
Albania is a member of the European union.
I would not like to live in Albania because the language is very strange.
